Wednesday, February 15th, 2012 by Norman Lomax Comment (0) »

Research commissioned by Google highlights that even though the B2C sector has been quicker to embrace video than B2B, 2012 is about to witness a big surge in B2B use of both mobile and online video.
According to the report:

5% of B2B marketers already using online video will increase their budgets in 2011
13% of companies not presently using online video for marketing will adopt it

..and there’s still miles more capacity. Although business is beginning to recognise the benefits of video marketing, there remains a perception that the costs of video production are beyond the budgets of SMEs.

In reality the video production world is in the process of being turned upside down. New technologies are driving new business models and costs are falling fast. I suppose it’s a little like the UK’s inability to deal with an inch of snow. Continue reading “Variety’s Film Marketing Summit: Day Two” »

Variety’s Film Marketing Summit: Day One

Friday, October 8th, 2010 by Henry Waterfall-Allen Comment (0) »

film-marketing-summit-LAI left a very rainy London on Friday morning only to arrive in a very overcast Los Angeles. I presumed it would disperse in a few hours, but no! I had somehow managed to bring the weather with me and I am now in my fourth day of rain in LA. Oh well, I can think of worse places to be working.

I attended Variety’s Film Marketing Summit yesterday. The goal of the event is to drive fresh insight and new viewpoints that have direct and immediate impact on movie marketing. The day started off with a keynote from Tom Rothman, CEO of Fox Entertainment. This was a real insight into the film industry and how the market has changed over the last ten years. Tom Rothman is one of the most experienced figures in the industry, so he obviously received the full attention of the audience.  He discussed in depth the new obstacles facing the marketing of films. 10-15 years ago a film would be made, then a marketing strategy would be created afterwards. Whereas, in most instances nowadays a marketing plan must be in place before a film is given the green light. Continue reading “Variety’s Film Marketing Summit: Day One” »
